All ports in USCG Sector Long Island Sound zone are open. The Sector Command Center will be tracking ice conditions within the Sector Long Island Sound zone.. Updates will be provided when available.

Synopsis for the Long Island Waters and New York Harbor... High pressure over the waters will drift to the south late today and tonight. Low pressure will then approach from the west tonight, with a warm front lifting north of the waters from Thursday into Saturday. The front will likely drop back south as a cold front Saturday night, then return north as a warm front on Sunday as low pressure approaches from the west.


N winds around 5 kt, becoming S this afternoon. Seas 1 ft or less, then 1 to 2 ft this afternoon.


S winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 1 ft or less.


SW winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming S 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt in the afternoon. Seas 1 ft or less, then 2 to 3 ft in the afternoon.

Thu Night

SW winds 20 to 25 kt, diminishing to 15 to 20 kt after midnight. Seas 2 to 4 ft.


W winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming S in the afternoon. Seas around 2 ft in the morning, then 1 ft or less.

Fri Night

SW winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 1 ft or less, then 2 to 3 ft after midnight.
