Synopsis for the Long Island Waters and New York Harbor... A cold front approaches on today, and slowly passes through the region tonight and Saturday. High pressure builds in Saturday night and drifts into New England Sunday. Waves of low pressure moves through the waters Monday and Tuesday. These are followed by a stronger low and cold front Tuesday night and Wednesday.


SW winds 15 to 20 kt, becoming S 10 to 15 kt late. Gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Numerous showers. Slight chance of tstms this afternoon. Vsby 1 to 3 nm.


S winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas around 2 ft. Rain and chance of tstms. Vsby 1 to 3 nm.


S winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt, becoming W 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 50 kt in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 4 ft, building to 4 to 6 ft in the afternoon. Rain likely, mainly in the morning with vsby 1 to 3 nm.

Sat Night

W winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 45 kt, becoming NW 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 25 kt after midnight. Seas 3 to 5 ft.


NW winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming N in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 3 ft.

Sun Night

SE winds around 5 kt, becoming E after midnight. Seas 1 ft or less.
